The Autonomous University of Chihuahua (UACh) hosted “Girl Powered Mexico 2025” , a robotics and STEM skills championship exclusively for women. The main objective of this event is to promote female participation in technology and innovation.

This edition broke two records, as this is the only women's championship in which tickets to the World Cup are awarded, as well as the one with the largest number of participating teams, with a total of 54 registered teams and a population of more than 800 girls.

During the formal ceremony, Professor Luis Rivera Campos, rector of the UACh, said that this meeting marks a step in the construction of the future of science and technology.

“As a university, we are proud to be part of this movement that encourages future leaders to explore and conquer these fields. We know that the path to a more inclusive and equitable future occurs through the active participation of STEM women,” Rivera Campos said.

For his part, engineer Francisco Wilson Robles, president of the STEM Iberoamerica Academy , said that within the framework of Women in Science Day, these activities were celebrated in six countries. He highlighted that in just three years this Championship was made the only one in the world where the competitions are exclusively for women, as well as the only one with a national stage for women only with passes to the World Cup.

“They are creating networks of girls and women in science, who will be the ones to motivate the changes necessary to make this country the country we all dream of ,” she added.

With categories such as Aerial Drone Competition, Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence, Collaborative Robotics and Automation, as well as Mobile Robotics, this championship provided a platform for women to develop and demonstrate their STEM skills. In addition, the Final Championship of the Chihuahua State League of Robotics and STEM Skills 2024-2025 was previously held, where high school and college students from the state participated, who stood out with their talent and creativity in the different categories.

The meeting was attended by the directors of the various faculties of the UACH, as well as heads of areas, including Lic. Eloy Espino Dickens, Administrative Director, Mtra. Martha Mier Calderón, Academic Director and Dr. Ruth del Carmen Grajeda, Director of Outreach and Cultural Diffusion, which represents a University that promotes inclusion and female talent in science and technology.
