Suspected Murderer of Arellano Félix Member Arrested in Culiacán

Culiacán, Sinaloa.- Elements of different police corporations carried out simultaneous search warrants in Culiacán, Mazatlán, and Rosario, arresting three women and two men. Among them is Brayan Paul Vega Valdez, alias "Wero Brayan," a 24-year-old alleged murderer of a member of the Arellano Félix cartel. Also arrested was Eric Domínguez Galván, 27, who was part of a criminal cell linked to drug trafficking and homicides. Notably, he had an arrest warrant for aggravated homicide related to a murder in a Mexico City shopping mall on April 20, 2023.

In Culiacán, six properties were raided, while two properties each were raided in Mazatlán and Rosario.

Authorities also seized 10 vehicles (three of which were armored), 13 firearms (including two Barret rifles and two machine guns), live ammunition, magazines, 31 boxes of 50-caliber cartridges, live cartridges of various calibers, 12 grenades, a grenade launcher, cash, tactical equipment, and various documents.

The detainees and seized items were handed over to the Public Prosecutor's Office.

The Murder of Julio César Soto Meza

Julio César Soto Meza, an active member of the Arellano Félix Cartel (CAF), was murdered in Plaza Carso, Mexico City, on April 20, 2023.

The murder was allegedly committed by Eric Domínguez Galván, who was arrested during the searches in Sinaloa.

Soto Meza had an extradition order from Oklahoma and a criminal record in Mexico, the United States, and Venezuela.

He was being investigated for homicides and crimes against public health. He had been arrested in Venezuela for drug trafficking and frequently traveled to Panama, Colombia, and California.

The murder caused panic among the local populace.
