Clash in Costa Rica, Culiacan was between gunmen; 3 dead confirmed

The confrontation at the Municipality of Costa Rica in Culiacán was between gunmen and there were 3 dead , said the Municipal President of Culiacán , Juan de Dios Gámez Mendívil.

The facts

This morning, February 25 , residents of the municipality reported a series of gunshots in the area of ​​Highway 19 in Culiacán .

Gámez Mendívil explained that the area is secured by elements of the National Defense Secretariat ( DEFENSA ) and indicated that the authority continues to conduct tours of the area.

"What we know is that around five in the morning there was a confrontation between armed civilians , of which the preliminary information right now is that three civilians were killed and that the area has been cordoned off," he said.

Citizen prevention in the face of the events

The Mayor of Culiacán stated that the protocol was activated , provisional access to the municipality was enabled and classes were suspended as a precaution.

He added that from very early on, the Costa Rican councilor maintained constant communication with him and the City Secretary , José Ernesto Peñuelas Castellanos.
